With rapidly growing operations and an increasing reliance on digital systems for production, logistics, and compliance, the company was facing mounting pressure to transform its legacy infrastructure into a resilient, scalable, and cloud-ready environment. Vedanta partnered with Trinet Technologies to modernize its core IT backbone and enable seamless business continuity, real-time data processing, and future innovation.
Challenges Faced by Vedanta
Vedanta’s existing infrastructure had been sufficient during the early stages of its digital journey. However, as the company expanded globally and began deploying AI and IoT-based systems across its facilities, the cracks in its foundation began to show. Systems were not built to scale with increasing data loads. Frequent downtime, slow data recovery, rising operational costs, and inconsistent user experiences across geographies were affecting productivity and decision-making. Additionally, there was an urgent need to enhance cybersecurity and compliance, especially in regulated markets such as South Africa and the Middle East.
Our Approach
Trinet Technologies began with a full-scale infrastructure assessment across Vedanta’s data centers and operational sites. Based on the findings, we designed a roadmap to shift from a fragmented on-premise setup to a unified, cloud-integrated hybrid architecture. Our teams deployed hyperconverged infrastructure powered by Azure Stack HCI and VMware vSAN at key sites and migrated business-critical workloads to Microsoft Azure for greater scalability and flexibility. We also implemented software-defined networking and security frameworks to create microsegmentation and zero-trust policies. Real-time observability tools were introduced using Prometheus and Grafana for performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, and proactive troubleshooting. Importantly, we enabled disaster recovery and backup automation to ensure rapid response in the event of failures or cyber threats.

The Outcome
Vedanta experienced a significant transformation across its infrastructure landscape. Downtime was reduced by over 90%, and backup and disaster recovery times improved by 75%. The new setup enabled faster data processing, real-time insights, and seamless integration with AI and IoT systems deployed across plants and field sites. Energy consumption in data centers dropped significantly, aligning with Vedanta’s sustainability goals. Teams across India, the UAE, Zambia, and South Africa were able to work on a unified platform, enabling better communication, data sharing, and coordination. The hybrid infrastructure also ensured the company could scale compute resources based on demand without over-investing in hardware.
